Meguiar's is a widely counterfeited brand, and Egypt is not exempt. A fake bottle costs you twice: once for the product, and again for the paint damage a bad abrasive can do. Here is how to buy with confidence.
The simplest answer
Buy from the authorised agent or from a seller who can name theirs.
Meguiar's Egypt is operated by El Adwar Group, the official authorised agent for Meguiar's in Egypt since 2010. Everything we sell comes through the official supply chain. That is the whole guarantee, and it is the one thing a marketplace listing cannot offer you.
If you are buying elsewhere, the question to ask is simply: who is your supplier? A legitimate reseller answers immediately. Nobody else does.
Red flags, in the order they matter
1. The price is far below everyone else
The clearest signal there is. Genuine product moves through an official distributor and lands in a predictable price band. A listing well under that band is not a bargain someone found; it is a different product.
Small differences between legitimate sellers are normal. A price that is half the going rate is not a discount.
2. The seller cannot tell you the product code
Every genuine Meguiar's product has a code: G7116, D30016, M10501. It appears on the label and in the official catalogue.

3. The size does not exist
Meguiar's sells specific sizes per product, and the code's last two digits encode which. If you are offered a size that does not appear in the official range, something is wrong: either it has been decanted from a larger container into an unmarked bottle, or it was never Meguiar's.
Decanting is worth calling out specifically, because it is common and it is not always malicious. Someone buys a professional gallon and sells it on in small unlabelled bottles. Even if the chemistry started out genuine, you have no batch traceability, no guarantee it was not contaminated or diluted, and no label telling you what it actually is.
4. The packaging is wrong in small ways
Compare against the product photos on this site or on Meguiar's own global site before you buy. Look at print quality, label alignment, colour, and whether text is crisp or slightly blurred. Counterfeits usually get the design broadly right and the execution slightly wrong.
Check that a batch or lot code is present and legibly printed rather than smudged, absent, or applied with a sticker over the original.
5. It arrives without a seal, or the seal is broken
A new bottle should arrive sealed. A broken or missing seal on something sold as new means, at best, that it has been opened, and you cannot know by whom or why.
What a fake actually costs you
This is not about brand loyalty. It is about what the product does to your car.
Compounds and polishes are abrasive by design. A genuine compound uses abrasives engineered to break down predictably as you work, which is what lets them correct paint without destroying it. A counterfeit has no such engineering. Its abrasives can be too coarse and can stay coarse, so instead of removing swirl marks you add deeper ones. The damage is in your clear coat and clear coat does not grow back.
Waxes and sealants simply may not protect. The failure here is quiet. The car looks fine on the day, and then the paint gets full Egyptian UV exposure for months while you believe it is protected. You find out when the colour starts to fade.
Interior and leather products can stain or dry out what they claim to protect. Dashboards that crack from the wrong chemistry are replaced, not repaired.
A counterfeit compound is the worst case: you paid for it, you spent the afternoon, and your paint is measurably worse than before you started.
